Feinstein’s is excited to announce the San Francisco concert premiere of The Women in Theatre Project! Following a successful debut at 54 Below in NYC, musical theatre writer Jen Coogan is bringing her inspiring and heartfelt show to San Francisco.

Part love letter, part song cycle, part musical documentary, The Women in Theatre Project celebrates the craft of theatre making, and the women behind the art form. This show explores themes of creativity, joy, grief, inspiration, and the trials and tribulations of the artistic process.
Inspired by interviews with notable women in theatre including: Daryl Roth, Jennifer Ashley Tepper, Mimi Lien, Ilana Levine, Earon Nealey, Lauren Gunderson, Dawn Chiang and Erin Merritt. With music and lyrics by Jen Coogan, and featuring a powerhouse cast of seasoned performers to be announced.

Jen Coogan began as a performer, but started writing musicals in her desire to create more roles for women. Most recently she appeared at 54 Below in NYC to debut the concert version of The Women In Theatre Project which Broadway producer, Jen Tepper called "crazy inspiring". She was the composer for the 2024 San Francisco Shakespeare Festival productions of The Tempest and As You Like it. Jen has received commissions from Broadway Bares San Francisco, and was recently featured in Broadway World for both her work on The Women In Theatre Project and Lizzie Wilding- Heavy Metal Werewolf. She has made recent sold out appearances at Feinstein’s at the Nikko and Myron’s Las Vegas. She has also worked on The Morning After My Family Fell Apart with Left Coast Theatre, The New Teacher with Superbad Theatre Company, and The Last Open Mic with WildHorse Stage Co.’s Musical Development Initiative, as well as developing the musicals Pharma Girls, and The Oregon Trail Pages.
